Started out good but then went from bad to worse... Would NEVER recommend this company! We moved 1,000 miles and I looked at several moving companies. I liked the Cummings salesman & Mayflower presentation the best. I was willing to pay the extra money for Cummings/Mayflower because they would coordinate the entire move, including the movers at pick up & delivery. I couldn't have been more wrong. Despite confirming move dates a month prior, Cummings kept trying to change the dates on us the week prior & the week of the move. The movers that arrived were simply subcontractors and were horrible. The head mover walked into our home and started pointing out things he refused to take. He also interrogated us on whether items were on the salesman's list. He spent the entire moving day telling us that he couldn't take everything because it wouldn't fit, was over the weight limit (which it wasn't) and wasn't on the list. Our salesman never called to see how the move was going, no one from Cummings was there and we were on our own with the movers who informed us that the salesman had hoodwinked us. I got a hold of the Cummings salesman at the end of the day, told him what had happened. He was apologetic, which helped a little but I asked him to please ensure that the delivery went smoothly. The movers scheduled the delivery a day early so we ended up driving 14 hours straight, arriving at our new home at 4:30 AM. Contrary to my discussions with the salesman, the movers had no information about where to deliver and the logistics of the new home--all of which I had sent TWICE to Cummings. The only nice things I can say are that the furniture was only minimally damaged (just a few very minor nicks & scratches) and that after I emailed Cummings with this review, the owner sent a nice email apology. Of course, that doesn't change or ameliorate the facts that I paid extra money to be treated like dirt. I've moved across the country before and had a much better experience. If I ever move again, it will not be with Mayflower! |
