okay, I OFFICIALLY HEART THEM. i will NEVER EVER MOVE MYSELF EVER AGAIN. we moved around the block, and the whole deal was fast, considering that we were moving from the dungeony cramped of a basement apartment that we used to live in to our somewhat modern brownstone of a first floor apartment. i forgot the names of the guys that moved us, but they were really nice and arrived early (much to our horror, as we were still packing) so i asked them to come back after an hour - after all we needed the time to pack more. based on previous experience, this time we packed all our stuff in beer boxes (thank you corner deli!) like a bunch of alcoholics. my fiancee had some stuff in plastic bags, and even if they put it in that big box they didnt charge us - im thinking that this will depend on WHICH GUY WILL MOVE YOU, but nonetheless, it was all good. i also knew about wrapping the mattress, so we wrapped ours with a bananabag (the container store sell these for about 6 bucks). as per usual, they needed my drill and drillbits, so it was good that i charged my trusty handy dandy drill. these guys were the best and we gave them a nice fat tip. one more thing, i think they only take cash. be sure to have all the cash on hand for paying them. i paid them $210 + tip, $45 for each guy, there were two of them - a smooth move done in 3 hours and 300 bucks. what is not to love? (of course the rates change depending on date of move and distance) |
