Let me tell you my horrible experience with Atlantic Van Lines. I hired them to move my daughter from her apartment to her new home. On the phone, I was told that the contract covered picking up all her belongings from her apartment and her store unit to the new home and set up of big items. The distance between her apartment and her new home is less than two miles. The price we were given was 495 for 3 moving guys and 4 hours of work. The movers arrived 3 hours late, and with an additional guy that I did not request. They started packing items that did not need to be packed. Since I had done 90 percent of the packing. Everything was in boxes. They arrived at the new house late when it was already dark. The one guy who was the leader presented me with a bill of 990 dollars. Twice what was agreed prior to the moving. They demanded payment before unloading my items. As you can expect I WAS NOT going to pay this amount. Additional charges included 260 dollars in tolls, and the rest according to them for boxes and wrapping paper. None of this was ever discussed on the first contract. I was so upset. In their broken English, they threaten to take all my items with them. I immediately contacted the police. The main guy called his headquarters. The guy on the phone told us that we had to pay, or they will be taking all our items. After going back and forth they said they were going to take everything back to the old apartment and throw it on the parking lot. I told them to go right ahead. When the police arrived, they settled to unload my items into the new house and to bring the heavy items not assembling the big items lowering the price to 600 dollars. This company is a FRAUD!! This review is real!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! You would be so disappointed. They showed up in a rental truck from AVIS. The workers were High School students who did not even know how to use a hand truck. |
