Let’s start on moving day which was supposed to be a Tuesday- when they didn’t show up i called they said they weren’t coming because i didn’t give a deposit. I had asked the man who i booked with if i needed to give a card/make a deposit to which he said no. No to holding a credit card- and no to a deposit. Just electronically sign the quote they sent via email- which i did. They offered to come Friday- with a 10% discount. With no other choice we agreed to Friday- we were forced to find housing for 3 days- as our lease ended on Tuesday (the agreed moving day). They arrived on time Friday (which was a surprise). They proceeded to nickel and dime us the rest of the day as well as treat us and our stuff poorly. There were 3 “workers” who came with the truck. They claimed one worker had to stay with the truck. There were two older guys- and a 20 year old who was running the project- and the only one who spoke/read English. I was shocked that they had ZERO COVID PRECAUTIONS! No masks/gloves or anything! My husband and I live right outside NYC which was at an all time high for covid! My husband and I proceeded to work masked and gloved all day- because they DID NOT! Once the moving began my husband worked harder then the 2 paid workers!!!! The young guy worked decently hard between smoking lots of cigarettes. During the first part of the move they took a 20 min break- while on the clock. I don’t mind taking a break- but I expect to have the time made up in work. They kept telling me they were only staying till the agreed time- regardless of breaks. This happened again later which I’ll get to. They treated our boxes awfully as well as all the furniture -even things that were labeled FRAGILE! They had clearly rented a truck that was too small, and my husband and I were left to fill our SUVs full with the remainder of our belongings without help! They also left their dolly and handcart in the lobby of our apartment! Which my husband and I brought to them at our new house... they barely even thanked us. (I wish we left them there!!!) After the truck was loaded we had to pay the fee. The quote they gave was $720 for a one bedroom apartment. Once the truck was loaded the new estimate was $1138. I understand that ($720) was an estimate but that’s very far off from the original estimate. That’s at least 1.5 times the original estimate!!!!! Then the guy running the project told me to call the boss and ask for the price of gas to be removed. The gas price was not even on the estimate- only paying for tolls!! So I called the boss and basically had to argue the price of expenses that were not even on the contract! When speaking with the boss he actually hung up on me- this happened 3 times. Then was the driving which was less than an hour. I arrived first to the house and they weren’t there (despite leaving a full 20min earlier)- because my husband and i had to pack our cars. Once there i proceeded to call them- to which they then told me they had to stop at a gas station. They arrived a full 45min after they were supposed to arrive. Then told me they only were paid for the next 15 mins and would leave all my belongings IN THE DRIVEWAY!!! It was too much. I called the boss because those 45 mins were supposed to be for work- not lunch- he hung up on me. I understand wanting to take a lunch- but they could have told me they wanted a break (i would have been happy to let them take an unpaid 45 min break). They started unloading the truck in my driveway- while smoking- and saying they would leave it all in my driveway unless we paid for another hour. They were literally yelling at me and my husband! Super unprofessional. My husband proceeded to give them cash for another hour. Then they begrudgingly started bringing the boxes into the house. Throwing boxes on the main floor instead of putting things where they belonged. I had created a organized labeling system for the boxes with color codes for all the rooms. Which was in effective as they could not read English. As well as being EXTREMELY LAZY! They worked for the next 45 mins- with me and my sisters trying to tell them where the boxes go! And my husband AGAIN doing the majority of the work. All in all it was a total nightmare unprofessional and literally breaking NY state law (not wearing PPE)! I am exhausted just reliving this day. Please do not hire this company if you value your things-your money-your time- or your sanity. |
