WORST MOVING COMPANY I HAVE EVER SEEN - CRIMINAL Hello, This review pertains to both U.S. Standard Moving and Storage (broker) as well as the subcontractor (Energy Moving Systems) that physically moved our belongings, as these companies worked together to deliver our belongings under the same contract. Here is a summary of my experience: - I was moving from the Metro NY area to the Tampa FL area - Missed pickup window two days in a row. Finally arrived on day three. Effectively no communication from both the broker and mover regarding the missed windows. I had to call in several times a day just to get an update. Often when I called in, the customer service/dispatch was very rude and acted like calling for an update was an inconvenience to them. Poor customer service and no sensitivity empathy to client needs/concerns. I needed to get on the road to drive to Florida and had to pay someone to sit with my things and receive the movers. As a moving/logistics company, it was shocking to see how disorganized they are. No one seemed to know what was going on. - Delivery was 7 days later and was supposed to be before 6pm. They showed up at 8:45pm. The only reason I knew this is after calling in to both the broker and mover repeatedly for an update. No one seemed to know what was going on. - All furniture that was moved arrived scratched, bent and/or broken. Pieces were also missing from some furniture. - The basic insurance policy only pays $0.60/lb. for damages and that is IF you get your claims approved. The salesperson told me I was covered up to $10,000 and made no mention of the per pound reimbursement rate. If I had known about this, I would have bought additional insurance. - 65-inch flat screen TV arrived bent and screen cracked. This TV was worth over $500. I will have to cover the costs myself since the insurance policy will only pay the per pound rate (TV weighs about 60 Lbs., so about $36 for a $500 TV. And again, assuming I am approved). - THE WORST PART: It was delivery day. Movers show up, and state that since I am on the second floor, I must pay $25 per individual step for them to carry my 23 boxes. There are 19 steps. That is $475 in charges that no one communicated to me ahead of time. In addition, both the broker and mover are unable to cite in the contract where it states this surcharge and amount. I ended up MOVING MY OWN FURNITURE since I was not about to be extorted by these criminals. They claimed that I never notified them I was on the second floor. How convenient of an excuse. Absolutely criminal. In all, there is no situation where I would ever consider recommending this company. Based on my experience, they will be late, rude and break your things. They might even try to extort $475 from you. |
