I am very upset about our move! I was quoted around a 4 hour move that, if had been completed, would've been 14 hours! Doug, the owner, was 10 hours off after saying he does this kind of move all the time! We moved a lot less than I had said we wanted to move, too! Nothing was put back together in our new house, and a lot of the saran wrap was left on my things! The boys were incredibly slow moving and were on break more than they were working. Maybe it isn't always like that, but every one of them was talking about how tired they were because of the amount of work they had done, lately (only 2 days off in the last month). I have sympathy the the boys, but that made it much more expensive for me in the long run. I was repeatedly told that it was going to take a lot less time than it did. I was apprehensive about going with an hourly mover, and rightfully so. I was told these guys were professional and quick. Neither one of those statements were true. The leader of the group, Josh, was crude, lazy, and unprofessional. The other boys were (or appeared to be) very respectful of my home and my children, which was the only upside to this move. My newly painted walls, banisters, stairs, and trim were damaged, which was adding insult to injury. Also, my daughter's nightstand was damaged and I never received an apology, but I did get a, it was going to break anyway response. REALLY?!! They broke my daughter's nightstand and there was no apology! As the night progressed I became increasingly irritated. I needed my things moved and it was not happening in any timely manner. My things were held hostage while The boys were messing around taking numerous breaks. If it was allowed, I would have gotten on the truck and removed my things myself! It would've been 100 times faster. Then, I was approached about the final bill. I was asked how we planned on paying. A cashier's check? Josh asked. I said I had no idea what forms of payment were accepted. I had a checkbook and credit cards. Well, Checks weren't accepted...So, I had credit cards. Well, if I paid with a credit card it would be an extra 6 percent...that was not only unacceptable, but offensive, after being completely robbed and continued to be on an hourly basis! Josh continued to tell me that ATM's were open. Are you kidding me?! There is a $600 maximum amount that I could have gotten out of the ATM at our bank. That should've been enough to cover the initial quote (4 hours at $125 an hour, plus a $40 gas charge) but, if I would've gotten a cashier's check for the time Doug said it would take, it would've been WAY off and I would've had to come up with another form of payment anyway! At the end of the move we were chatting with his workers that continued to tell us that Doug routinely tells people that it will be MUCH less time than it actually takes. They said they get a lot of complaints about Doug and the way he runs his business. I suspect that the positive reviews are created by him or his family. I sent Doug an email and expressed my dissatisfaction with the whole situation. I told him that he blatantly lied to me and I was really upset about it. He called me and told me that he was going to come to some sort of resolution. That resolution was to take $100 off of my final bill. After his boys robbed me of $750?! I told him that was completely unacceptable! Well, he was lying about taking the money off anyway. He ran my card for the full amount! I would NEVER recommend going with this hourly moving service. Maybe all of the other positive reviews were because they had a set price on the items they were moving. This company is not honest at all! |
