8/28/2011 Another great move with Special Forces! So I'd had this move handled. I'm going traveling for a year, then moving to New York, and everyone has said it'd be cheaper to sell my furniture and buy it new than to move it. This was true for everything but my bed and my TV, so I'd made for a thrift store to come pick up the rest of bedroom set, and a few friends and I had planned to move my belongings into the moveable storage pod I'd gotten on Sunday (today). Enter hurricane Irene. So after a freakout on Friday about rumors 90mph winds (which appear to have been greatly exaggerated), I started calling movers. Of course, trying to get a mover, even just to move stuff from my 1st floor apartment into a storage container, scheduled on less than 24 hours' notice on the last weekend in August in Boston, was an exercise in disappointment. I remembered that my movers from my last move had been awesome, but (forgive me guys!) I could not remember the name of the company. I ran across Special Forces again on Yelp, and I was like, You know, I have a good feeling about these guys... (Since my last move was two years ago, my review was buried, of course.) I called up, and Dave was super friendly and cool (as he had been last time, apparently, lulz!), and he'd had a cancellation that let him come out to my house the next day - what's more, when I realized I'd messed up the time the container was going to be delivered, he even accommodated me to change the time to a little later with no fuss at all. The move went AMAZINGLY well. I cannot tell you how fast and careful these guys were. My stuff was expertly fit into a space that I hadn't really thought would fit it (that container was so much smaller than I'd realized it would be!), and not only that, they were able to fit all the furniture - ALL the furniture - that the thrift store was going to take into the unit (which was awesome, because the thrift store never showed up or called - still haven't, in fact). They were done in well under the two-hour minimum, for which they charged a very, very reasonable rate. This was a great, great moving experience, and Dave (the owner, who came out himself ) and John were awesome and friendly and did a great job. I'll definitely be calling them back when I land in New York to unpack my storage container! :D |
