Estimate: For the original estimate, we told them we had 2 bedrooms (1 bdrm plus a little in storage) and listed every item of furniture. The original quote seemed low when they arrived, so they looked it over and revised the quote to almost double the original. By the time the truck was packed, it was another $1000 over the second quote, and this was WITHOUT some of our furniture and boxes we had planned to move. Pickup: very professional, some minor rescheduling, seemed to package things well. Communication: we were absolutely unable to contact anyone from the company for about 20-30 phone calls to various numbers when we were trying to check the status of our move (over several days and times). When we left harsh voicemails, we finally got someone to help us. They kept referring to an online moving status function- when we tried it, it said to call customer service. No good. Communication was also poor about delivery, and it was rescheduled many times. Delivery: TERRIBLE. Two days before our things were scheduled to be delivered, our stuff was still in New Jersey in a warehouse. They said they would call when it got closer. We scheduled delivery, but they then delayed again for another day, then delayed that day for later in the afternoon, then were 2 hours late. In all, this was about a week after our originally scheduled delivery date. When the movers arrived, it was a subcontracted company called Uzbek Express. Their English was very limited. They moved everything to the garage, assembled and moved most of the big furniture and several boxes, but then stopped working and demanded that we sign the release paper. They became threatening until the paper was signed. They left, with about 80% of items left in the garage. Some things appear to be broken, but we haven�t finished cataloging yet. . . BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT USE ATLANTIC UNION OR UZBEK EXPRESS!! You will never be able to get a hold of them, they won't deliver when they agreed to, they subcontract to shady menacing characters, they charge over 2 times what they quote at first, things get broken, and they leave the job undone after being paid. |
