STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Greg Penta moving, doing business as (DBA) Bell Rock Movers is a prime example of what's wrong in the moving business. They cheated us and padded the bill at every turn, thinking they had us over a barrel. We were given a 'discounted' quote for 3 men and truck, but only 2 men showed up on the day of the move. The 'move boss' wanted to charge us a higher rate per man. In the quote, I was told there would be no drive time fee, since this was a local job. The movers were late - and added 'driving around' and 'waiting at the doorbell' time to the bill. The owner was conveniently unreachable by phone all morning. The 2 men were slow, not physically fit, and complained the whole time. It quickly became clear that they intended to milk the job. It became a game of trying to limit the rip-off. Kept trying to add extra fees that we were never told about beforehand, and were not itemized on the bill. Wanted to charge us $25 per item to blanket wrap and then cellophane wrap furniture! Tried to charge extra for items they called 'appliances.' Had the nerve to demand a tip afterwards, telling us 15% was the standard Massachusetts gratuity. Yeah, for waiters making restaurant minimum wages. The only thing that saved us was that we still had a few days on the lease. I stopped the job half-way through. I later hired 2 guys with a van - they were faster, cheaper, and better in all respects. After the move, Bell Rock Movers wouldn't answer the phone when I called. Buyer Beware!! I can't find a license for them in the state's Mass DTE lookup database. |
